Summary

The number of people in the UK living with some degree of sight loss is expected to double from two to four million by 2050. However, while half of all sight loss is avoidable, 20 million of us fail to have our eyes checked once every two years. This report explores the importance of regular eye tests in identifying preventable eye conditions and underlying health problems, from diabetes and high cholesterol, to hypertension and Alzheimer's disease. It also looks at the psychology behind eyewear, new technologies set to transform eye health and advises on how to choose the right contact lenses or glasses
